Stop Being Lazy, Credit Artists
Whenever I go to someones home page and they have one of those lazy ass cute little disclaimers in the info panel that reads something like this
“hey if this is your art and you want me to take it down or you want me to put your name on it (yadda yadda)….”
it makes me want to punch babies! So I came up with an idea, if you cant link it back to the artist, DON’T FUCKING POST IT!
Now I know, its totally crazy to be accountable and take that extra step to credit someones work, but you might give it a try cause its really not that hard.
Google. Bing. Yahoo. All have search engines where you can look things up.
Tineye is this cool little browser add on where you can search images for creator info or source it out by finding out where it came from.
There are so many options and it takes so little effort on your part that you don’t really have an excuse for posting something without attribution. Now I get sometimes you might not be able to find the artist/cosplayer/sculptor/painter cause you found it on flickr or something, but putting up a blanket statement of laziness on your front page as an easy out is no answer or excuse.
If you’re wondering why I have my panties in such a twist, cause its the right thing to do first and foremost but secondly, I found some dipshit trying to pass off one of my custom figures as his own work on some halfassed website by using a search engine and it put a spur in my saddle.
CREDIT ARTISTS! They are nice enough to share their work online with the entire known universe, the least you can do is link to their sites to help them make a living!
