Clement Sauve was an amazing artist. He had a style that was so unique and beautiful that when you saw it you had to take notice. It was like nothing you’ve ever seen before and would catch your attention immediately because it was so fresh. 

Sauve did a lot of great work in his 33 years, some of which you can see on his deviantart page, but to me Sauve created something special and gave a fresh new look and feel to one of my favorite things ever, G.I.JOE.

Sauve designed the characters for the short lived, and in my opinion, absolutely brilliant G.I.JOE:RENEGADES. G:R was easily the best iteration of the Joes ever and introduced characters in clever and interesting ways, not just hey this is the new guy that does this because we need him to do this. But Renegades (like Sauve) never got to live up to its potential and was cancelled after 1 season.

As great as Sauve and Renegades were, they could have been so much more given a little more time to mature and find their place. Its a shame that while hacks prosper, artist toil, and while Sauve didn’t toil per say, I feel like he never got the chance to really be known and appreciated by fans the way some people are in the comics world. 

I miss what Sauve could have been but am thankful that his body of work is out and can be seen and looked at with the esteem it deserves.
