In the gaming world IP’s are released monthly without any sort of grounding so this isn’t the strongest argument. Deadpool has over a decade of comics, toys, other game appearances, movie appearances and so forth, so I think its not so much about name recognition as it is quality of product.
Granted, I can’t say this conclusively because I’ve not played the game yet, but in the gaming world when a title gets a price cut like this a month before release, it is never a good sign. Believe me, I want this to be good, but I’m not hopeful at this point.
My love for Deadpool goes deeper than anyones (I got my entire right rib panel emblazoned with a gigantic DP tattoo in 1995) and I want this to be good, but 99% of the time in a case like this, when a game gets a cut right before release it means there are problems.
DEADPOOL’s new game is up for pre-order on STEAM at a price of….$39.99?
That’s not a special pre-order sale price, that’s the regular price, for a new game that hasn’t come out yet. This does not bode well for the title if they are slashing and burning the price a month before its even released.
This generally spells stink fest in the gaming world.
